– This Online Appointment Reservation System for Visas and other immigration and civic matters is valid only for citizens and permanent residents of Mexico‚ Costa Rica‚ El Salvador‚ Guatemala‚ Honduras‚ Nicaragua and Panama as well as citizens of the Republic of South Africa based in these countries.
– South African Visas are currently processed in 10 working days (u to 14 natural days); please read the information below in full to calculate your times.

BEFORE YOU START THE VISA PROCESS, PLEASE NOTE THAT:
– There is NO visa interview; therefore‚ applicants are not required to apply in person at the South African mission in Mexico City‚ but an appointment is necessary to physically drop visa applications at the Embassy. -book your appointment using the CALENDAR at the end of this page or
– if you wish to send your visa application documents via courier to the South African Embassy in Mexico City‚ use the address in Section E) below. IMPORTANT: If you are NOT a South African citizen, please don’t book appointments on Wednesday. If you do, the system will cancel your appointment.
– If you are unable to book a visa appointment on Monday‚ Tuesday or Thursday‚ please send your documents via courier‚ even if you reside in Mexico City or near Mexico City; use the address in Section E) below.
– Countries Exempt from South African Visas and/or visa fees There are countries that are required to apply for visas but are exempt from visa fees‚ e.g. India, Colombia‚ Mexico‚ etc. Please refer to the list of countries that pay for visa and if your country is not listed it means you do not need to pay for visa:
– If you are the bearer of a passport that falls under the category of Diplomatic‚ Official‚ Service or Special‚ you may NOT need a South African visa or you MAY be exempt from Visa Fees: Inmigrations Services
BEFORE YOU START THE VISA PROCESS, PLEASE NOTE THAT:
– There are NO electronic Visas (e-visas) for South Africa available on this Embassy website or in other government website like https://ehome.dha.gov.za/epermit
– It is not advisable to use websites like https://evisa-southafrica.com/ or other government or tourism websites that offer electronic visas for South Africa.
– This website and the social media accounts of the South African Embassy in Mexico are the only official sources of information on visas and other immigration matters for Mexico and the abovementioned countries of accreditation, as well as civic affairs for South African citizens.
– It is the responsibility of each applicant to PREVENT fraud, data loss and identity theft while trying to obtain electronic or express visas on other websites.
– South African Visitor Visas are free of charge (GRATUITAS) ONLY for Mexican citizens and Mexican passport holders.
– International Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificates are only required for travellers who have recently visited Brazil, who plan to reach South Africa Via Sao Paulo or who will visit other countries in countries within the Yellow Fever Belt before entering South Africa. Visitors who travel via the US, Europe, Dubai and other countries that are not part of the Yellow Fever Belt do NOT need Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate. B) Payment of WORK, RELATIVES, STUDY, 11(2), long term visas and visitor’s visas:
– If you are traveling for business or pleasure, please click on South African Visitor’s Visa or the type of visa you wish to apply for. – Citizens and passport holders of the following countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama must pay a FEE for a South African Visitor’s Visa. Click on GENERAL INFO FOR APPLICANTS

to access the Mexican Peso account for money transfers made in Mexico and the US Dollar account for money transfers from abroad.
– It is very important that applicants include their NAME as it appears in their passport in the concept of the money transfer and a copy of the proof of that transaction with their visa application.
– Work Visas are granted to applicants who are transferred by their companies to live in South Africa; all other applicants who visit South Africa for business or work-related purposes must apply for a Visitor’s Visa, NOT a Work Visa.
C) THE CALENDAR and VISA appointments:
– Please book you Appointment on the calendar below on MONDAY, TUESDAY and THURSDAY from 9:00 to 12:00 hrs only.
— If you are not a South African Citizen and IF you book a VISA appointment on WEDNESDAY, your appointment will be CANCELLED by the system, as WEDNESDAYS are fully dedicated to civic services for South African citizens.
- The available slots are divided into 15-minute intervals that allow a maximum of 3 visa applications for each reserved interval.
- Representatives of Travel Agencies, families and groups are encouraged to reserve 2 or more spaces as necessary.
D) SPECIFIC documents:Please find the full list of requirements on this link and bear in mind the following specifications:
– Photographs: Make sure that the photographs for the Application are Passport Size and with a white background, front view and with a clear forehead.
– Photocopy of passports: Attach to your documents a photocopy of the full page where your photograph appears in your passport.
– Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate: South Africa is a Yellow-Fever free country. Please include a photocopy of a vaccination certificate ONY IF you visited Brazil recently, if you are travelling from a Yellow Fever Belt country, such as Brazil (Sao Paulo), or if you plan to visit other countries in Southern Africa that are part of the Yellow Fever Belt like Kenya and Tanzania.
** E) PUBLIC HOLIDAYS AND TIMES:
– South African Visas are processed in 10 working days (Information is subject to change without prior notice, but it will always published on the Social Media accounts of the SA Embassy in Mexico and Google: Embajada de Sudáfrica en México.
– If you send your visa application to the South African Embassy in Mexico City, please ask your courier service provider to give you an approximate time to deliver your documents and add an approximate time to return your visa and passport to you.
– It is important to acquire and include with your documents an Airway Bill (Guía prepagada) to receive and proof of payment to (for non-Mexican Passport holders) to get your passports and visas.
– If you live outside of Mexico or are unable to find a time slot in the calendar –even if you reside in Mexico City

Please verify with your airline if you still must provide a COVID 19 negative test certificate which is no older than 72 hours before your arrival into South Africa. This Embassy does not provide that information.

THE APPLICATION AND REQUIREMENTS
The General Information for Applicants button in each type of visa contains the amounts that must be transferred in US Dollars outside of Mexico and in MXN Pesos in Mexico
– The Payment Info button contains the banking details for the government accounts for money transfers in US Dollars outside of Mexico and in MXN Pesos in Mexico
– New Requirement for Economic dependants and guests whose expenses will be paid by a parent, a relative or another person, please note that they must include with their application a Responsibility letter (carta responsiva) written in English or translated into English, specifying the full names of the visa applicant and the person who will cover the expenses of the applicants during their trip to South Africa, the cover page of 3 most recent bank statements and a copy of the official ID or passport of the signing person.
