▪️ ON-LINE REGISTRATION TO VOTE ABROAD
▪️VOTER REGISTRATION WEEKEND IN MEXICO CITY
▪️ All South African citizens in Mexico and Central America are informed that voter registration in person will take place at the South African Embassy in México City on the weekend of 27 and 28 January 2024 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The IEC has indicated that if South Africans want to vote, they will have to travel to the nearest Mission, even if it is in another country. The Act does not recognise the premises of an Honorary Consul as a voting station. The IEC also does not expect Missions to travel to other countries.

Kindly see below, from the IEC, information regarding registration to vote abroad in the 2024 Elections, for the attention of South African Missions abroad.
1.​ON-LINE REGISTRATION TO VOTE ABROAD:
1.1​The IEC has confirmed that the online portal is active for South African Nationals to register to vote abroad in the 2024 Elections. Missions are hereby requested to encourage South African Nationals to register on-line as follows:
a) By using the below QR code which can be scanned and users will be directed to the IEC portal for registration.
b) Alternatively, the portal can be accessed on the IEC website – (https://www.elections.org.za/ )
2.​VOTER REGISTRATION WEEKEND:
2.1​The voter registration weekend has been scheduled to accommodate South African Nationals who either do not have access to, or were unable to, register online. The voter registration weekend has been confirmed by the IEC as follows (the dates are also indicated on their website):
2.2​For Missions that have a work week from Monday to Friday – voter registration weekend will be 27 and 28 January 2024. Attached is a poster that can be placed on the Mission’s website or social media platforms. The poster can also be printed and displayed in the Reception Areas.
2.3​Office hours over the registration weekend – 08:00 to 17:00.
