Third Ceramics Workshop with South African potter, Madoda Fani

Madoda Fani’s work allows us to admire in detail the use of the carving technique, which the artist has explored throughout his career and which today gives a distinctive seal to his pieces.
This decoration is a contemporary evolution of the traditional designs that South African groups use to give greater grip to their beer vessels, used in rituals and ceremonies to give their ancestors drink.

 

“I teach this kind of secret so that my students get inspired, adapt and use the technique in their own style”, he said during a demonstration to the students of the workshop “Soul shaping into clay, Masibumbe”.

 

 

We are happy to welcome students who have traveled to Tapalpa, Jalisco, from different parts of Mexico, Australia, the United States, El Salvador, Chile, Costa Rica and Colombia to delve into South African ceramics guided by the artist Madoda Fani.
