Zukiswa Zingela has been re-elected to the International Narcotics Control Board

Professor Zukiswa Zingela has been re-elected to the International Narcotics Control Board for a new term following a close vote in the elections of the subsidiary body ECOSOC held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Professor Zukiswa Zingela is Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Nelson Mandela University and former Head of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital and Walter Sisulu University.

Professor Zingela considers her first term on the INCB to have been a success, with key initiatives undertaken in collaboration with other board members and member states to ensure the availability of controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes, while preventing diversion in accordance with the relevant treaties.
