Art Exhibition: «Mirada Empoderada; Mujeres en el Mundo»

Art and Photography Exhibition

In the framework of International Women’s Day, the Embassy of South Africa joined the National Executive Committee of the SNTSRE, who through its Secretariat of Cultural Activities and its Gender Liaison, in coordination with the General Directorate of Real Estate and Material Resources and the Area of Artistic and Cultural Heritage of the S.R.E and the Institute of Mexicans Abroad, held the art and photography exhibition: «Mirada Empoderada; Mujeres en el Mundo» (Empowered Look; Women in the World).

This artistic exhibition aims to show the figure of women in the world of art regardless of age, since in this exhibition there are some works of the Children’s Drawing Contest organized by the Institute of Mexicans Abroad for Mexican girls living abroad, as well as the South African Embassy in Mexico and the photographers Yanel Mucharraz and Angelica Yollox.

The South African exhibition features a selection of paintings by Annabella Eatherley and Joanne Kleynhans and photography by Lolo Veleko and Omar Badsha. At the opening ceremony, writer María Esther López Aguado recited two poems: «Descalza» (Barefoot), written by her and «I am an African» by former South African President Thabo Mbeki.
